The updated Audi A5 and S5 line-up has been revealed for the 2019 Frankfurt motor show, sporting revised looks and new infotainment across the range, earmarked for a second quarter launch in 2020. Like the related A4 and S4 family, the A5 and S5 have had a subtle nip and tuck to bring the Coupe, Sportback and Cabriolet in line with the company's latest models. Pitched as an "even more powerful resolve", the front-end sees a flatter and wider interpretation of Audi's Singleframe grille, new detailing in the bumper, and ventilation slits above the grille reminiscent of the 1984 Audi Sport quattro. There's also a new LED daytime-running light signature up front. The rear has been treated so some updates, too, most notably the revised LED tail-light signature to match the front, while a new rear bumper with diffuser insert and trapezoidal tailpipe finishers help to make the vehicle appear wider.

LED headlights are standard across the range in Europe, with Matrix LED units with dynamic indicators to be offered as an option.
A total of 12 exterior finishes will also be available, including a new 'shade distinct green metallic' (pictured top).
Two optional exterior appearance lines will be available for the A5 – advanced and S line. Inside, the biggest changes revolve around the new MMI touch infotainment system.
The upgraded setup incorporates a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen display with acoustic feedback running the Volkswagen Group's new MIB3 interface, also removing the outgoing touchpad and rotary dial. Audi says the new system gains a natural voice control recognition function, along with new features like navigation that suggests routes based on previous drives.
"Audi connect and Audi connect plus comprise a multitude of online services, including online traffic sign and hazard information, on-street parking and the Car-to-X service traffic light information, which Audi launched in Ingolstadt this July. It connects the car to the city’s central computer that controls the traffic lights," the company says in its press kit.
The new A5 is also available with the optional digital Audi connect key, which allows compatible Android devices to be used as a vehicle key that can unlock the doors and start the engine.
A revised version of Audi's 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrument binnacle features too, while the company is rolling out a new subscription model for various features via the myAudi smartphone app. Customers will be able to choose several functions on demand that can be added in monthly, yearly or unlimited subscriptions. Functions include navigation MMI plus, DAB+ digital radio, and Audi smartphone interface (Apple CarPlay/Android Auto). Beyond those available features, the new A5 can also be had with Audi phone box (wireless charging) and an optional Bang & Olufsen premium sound system.
